RF Engineer

Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring system performance metrics daily to identify discrepancies.
  • Analyzing performance data collected during system drives to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Optimizing network equipment to maximize system performance.
  • Working closely with Operations Team to ensure all discrepancies are resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Interfacing with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Care Teams to provide technical resolution to customer complaints.
  • Designing network expansions by using path loss prediction tools (Planet) and CW drive tests.
  • Supporting cell site additions by working closely with Site Acquisition Team, providing written defense of site candidates to planning staffs, and offering technical expertise at zoning hearings.

Familiarity with any of the following would be beneficial:
  • Software: Visual Basic, Perl, Korn Shell, Unix, MS Excel, MS access, Planet, Java Script, Erricson TEMS, Invex, Grayson WMS, and/or Watchmark Prospect.
  • Hardware: Motorola CDMA 1XRTT equipment platform (CBSC, SC4812T/ET/ET Lite, SC300, VPU, AGNODE, & Nortel DMS-100 switch, and/ or Agilent 8935.
  • General: Thorough understanding of CDMA concepts, RF/antenna theory, and telecommunications.

Must be enthusiastic, able to work independently with little direct supervision, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

Outside Plant Engineer

Under the supervision of the OSP Engineering & Construction Manager, this position would be expected to perform detailed engineering tasks of considerable technical difficulty that include analyzing, evaluating, designing, planning, labor and material job costing, and/or modifying a facet of telephone or telecommunications facilities in OSP design engineering. This position is an exempt salaried position. Proven successful experience in detailed OSP Engineering is an essential requirement.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily and technical guidance and assistance to other engineering staff;
  • Assist with coordination, schedules, and Intra-departmental OSP tasks;
  • Conduct and/or oversee the implementation of cost and engineering studies;
  • Review OSP designs, associated paperwork, and drawings for accuracy, content and completeness;
  • Review and/or prepare engineering records, reports, drawings, documents, etc.;
  • Prepare, review, and assist OSP Engineering & Construction Manager with appropriate budgets on a Project and Job level;
  • Analyze complex engineering problems and assist with special projects as directed by the OSP Engineering & Construction manager;
  • Perform other duties as directed by the OSP Engineering and Construction manager which may transcend departmental boundaries in order to meet company and departmental goals.

The qualified candidate will possess:
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, activities of OSP engineering design, engineering mathematics, OSP engineering and communication systems analysis, design and equipment applications, and related areas of OSP engineering;
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal OSP engineering and construction practices;
  • Knowledge of CAD OSP design layouts and systems;
  • Skill in defining, evaluating, and solving complex engineering problems;
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information (verbally and in writing) to both technical and non-technical personnel;
  • Ability to conduct engineering studies and surveys;
  • Ability to apply accounting and economic principles, mathematics, and logic to the solution of problems;
  • Ability to read and comprehend printed information;
  • Ability to analyze a technical system or design into component parts;
  • Ability to organize and maintain engineering files.

  • Responsible for selling communication services/facilities and data designs (including local and wide area networks) in the Charleston area Competitive candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

Qualifications:
  • Computer skills with an understanding of spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation applications a must.
  • Strong telephony sales experience and/or college degree preferred.
